Leanai Birth and Postpartum Services
Prenatal and Birth Services
(Virtual Birth Services include most of the following, but adjusted to fit within texting, email, and Skype)
Free Consultation
Every important event in your life requires the right support for your needs. I provide a complimentary interview either in person, or, if you prefer, by phone. This gives you an opportunity to ask any questions about me, my services and my business. To eliminate playing phone tag, I encourage you to schedule a day and time with my by sending an email, which can be found in the Contact section of this website.

Consultations for Virtual Services can be done via phone or Skype if in-person meeting isn't an option.
Phone & Email Support
When you hire me as your doula, you will have access to phone and email support. Non-emergency questions get answered during business hours.

As a Doula, I Do Not:
2 Prenatal Visits
Prenatal visits are a great resource. Not only does this give me an opportunity to meet the members of your birth team, but I can show them comfort measures to help you in early stages of labor, and comfort measures I can assist with while you are in later stages of labor. I can also answer questions and address any concerns you, your partner, or other birth team members may have. This is where we discuss wishes you may have regarding your labor, birth and postpartum, and we will write out a birth map together.

Consultations for Virtual Services can be done via phone or Skype if in-person meeting isn't an option.
Professional Information and Resources
Resources are a big advantage when you have specified concerns out of my Scope of Practice. I provide local resources, and information you may need to make an informed decision regarding you or your child.

Perform any clinical tasks
As a doula, I do not have any training, licensing, or certification as a midwife or OB/GYN. I do not do measuring, blood pressure, blood draws, cervical checks or provide diagnoses or treat them.
Make decisions for you
This birth is yours. Your decisions are made by you. I do not bring my own preferences to the table. I will willingly provide any information you request if you and/or your partner need to make a decision and will support you in it.
During labor
During labor, I provide customized emotional and physical support to you and the members of your birth team. This could be as simple as relieving your partner so they can take a nap or get something to eat. It could also mean I provide the laboring parent with emotional support (including helping the parents come up with a birth map prior to labor and delivery), or with physical comfort measures such as: massage, labor positions, hydrotherapy, optimal fetal positioning, deep relaxation, and visualization.

Labor Support for Virtual Services can be done via phone or Skype if in-person isn't an option or if you prefer me to not be there personally.
Speak to the staff on your behalf
I do not advocate for you...I encourage you to advocate for yourself when speaking to the nurses, doctors, midwives and other medical support staff. I DO remind you of anything you put in your birth plan, in case you need a prompt to talk to anyone.
Project any of my own beliefs onto your experience
I've had the joy of giving birth three times, and have three beautiful boys because of it. Each birth was different, just as yours will be. I know parents handle birth differently. As such, I leave my beliefs at the door, and fully support you as you navigate your labor and birth in your own way.
Postpartum Services
Baby’s first feeding Support
If breastfeeding is an option you prefer, I also provide support to establish breastfeeding. I also provide resources and information prior to birth, so you and your partner can get the best possible start.
Postpartum follow-up visit
I provide new families with a postpartum follow-up visit, to not only see how the new family is settling into their new normal. I answer questions, go over the birth to address concerns, and go over basic baby essentials if needed. There is also a Postpartum Package, which includes more visits.
Community Referrals
Information can be a huge advantage for new parents...I provide community referrals for everything from pediatric doctors, to breastfeeing support groups, and many in between.
Support for the Parents
Sometimes new parents can feel overwhelmed. My Postpartum Package includes support emotionally for the parents, as well as physical support. Meal prep, light housecleaning, even watching your newest addition so you can take a nap, grab a shower, or go outside to get some sunshine and fresh air.

******A Handy Note... ******
I offer two postpartum packages. My "First Week Home" package is a good fit if:
*This is not your first child and you just need assistance for the first week until everyone is settled
*Your child is a few weeks old and you just need a helper to catch up on sleep
*There is an age gap between your little ones and you would like some assistance getting information about safety guidelines and other baby-related things...

On the other hand, you may want to look into the full Postpartum Package if:
*This is your first child and the thought of navigating the first few weeks by yourself seems terrifying
*You have a history of Postpartum Depression and feel a little extra support can help navigate postpartum emotions and hormone fluctuations
*You will be recovering from a Cesarean Section and need the extra support as you heal
*You have a personality that requires constant reassurance that yes, this is normal, and yes, you are doing a great job

These aren't the only reasons someone would require postpartum services, but it is a good starting point to see if you would need short-term or long-term assistance.
