These are just a few of the words that come to mind when I think of Jill.
Most people in our context might think: you don’t need a doula - this is your third child. Additionally, my husband always has been and continues to be an amazing support. However, we were both so grateful that we did decide to hire a doula. Jill provided knowledge, education and encouragement during our prenatal visits. She checked in with me, periodically, towards the end of my pregnancy- to see how my Doctors appointments went, to see how I was doing and giving positive encouragement. She was at our house within the hour of me contacting her — and she lives at least 30 minutes away! Plus we weren’t necessarily planning on having her come to our house before the hospital - so we had not given her any heads up that we would likely be needing her soon. My husband and I had been up the entire night, as my contractions continued and we were exhausted. Jill helped watch our other two children while we tried to get some rest. She also labored with me in giving me back squeezes/pressure EVERY contraction, while my husband supported me by letting me lean on him. Jill also applied pressure on a reflex point in my back that made each contraction work well/hard to keep labor progressing. She waited at our house with our kids and my mother in law while my husband and I went to a check up at the office.

We were told, at the doctors office to head to the hospital. Jill was there within minutes that we had arrived. She helped to set up the room the way I had wanted it. She continued giving back squeezes and encouragement when I felt like giving up. Jill was the extra energy and hands that my husband and I needed to keep on laboring. She brought her own supplies that I didn’t think of - like a Fan I wore around my neck to keep me cool.
