I believe...

• Every birthing parent has the right to be an active member in the birthing experience. This means able to make informed decisions about their doctors, birth setting, who they want in attendance, interventions (or lack thereof), and procedures they want done prior to, during and after birth.

• Birth is a natural process, not a "problem to be solved".

• In building the confidence of every birthing parent and developing their self-confidence, and trusting their bodies to give birth.

• The emotions of the pregnant parent is deep and overwhelming and has a huge impact on the birth process. They should be allowed to express their emotions and feelings openly and without judgement.

• In giving every family, regardless of gender, religion, race or sexual orientation, the birth story they wish to have.

• Birth is a beautiful process, no matter how it is achieved.

• In supporting the birthing parent in whatever choices they make during their birthing and postpartum experience.

• Instilling confidence in postpartum parents, so they feel they are capable of handling challenges in the first few months of the newborn's life.
